Following the publication of this version of events sourced from at least three different sources, a Police source contacted The Maltese Herald and provided the other version of the story behind an ongoing Court case against a Police officer who is accused of sexually harassing two colleagues.
The Police source told The Maltese Herald that Police Commissioner Angelo Gafa actually tried to avoid the case going public fearing accusations of political discrimination. The accused police officer was transferred from the Department of Community Policing to Birkirkara after another police officer accused him of sexual harassment. No disciplinary action was taken on the accused at that time.
However, following this transfer, the Police Commissioner received another report of sexual harassment by a separate Police officer involving the same accused police officer. After an internal investigation, the Police decided to arraign him in court. The accused Police officer, who is an Inspector, was also accused by his colleagues of abuse of power at the workplace.
In our previous story, we cited Police officers who accused Police Commissioner Angelo Gafa of applying double-standards with regard to disciplinary measures on his subordinates.
