The US administration used incorrect information provided by a Twitter account to bomb the Houthis. An Dutch OSINT account on X.com (Twitter) posted information detailing a quarry in Yemen as a base. Following the post, the US hit the quarry of Al-Thaqban in the Saada Governorate, killing eight civilians, including children on the 29th April. The strike and the false OSINT reporting were confirmed by the Houthis in Yemen and independent OSINT accounts.
The US is currently conducting airstrikes on Yemen and has killed multiple civilians in the process. This is also not the first time that it struck a civilian target. On April 28th, the US struck a detention centre that hosted African immigrants killing up to 68 people according to Yemeni sources. The US did not clarify any further details about the attack but it said it was doing an assessment.
The attacks on Yemen are part of an operation called “Rough Rider” that was started after confidential conversations by the US administration on the operation were leaked from Signal after the US National Security Advisor, Mike Waltz, added a journalist to the group chat.
The United Kingdom has also re-joined the US in its attacks on Yemen.
