The Labour Party holds its May Day demonstration in Valletta

The Labour Party held its traditional May Day demonstration in Merchants Street, Valletta, with the Deputy Leaders of the party and the Prime Minister delivering speeches to a sea of red-clad supporters.

Wonder-no-longer-socialist-kid, Alex Agius Saliba was, as usual, perfectly in line with party and government propaganda, and celebrated the sale of Maltese passports to the Chinese and Russian oligarchs, remarking that thanks to them, we helped Bjorn Formosa build “Dar Bjorn”.

The Deputy-Prime Minister, Ian Borg was in his unusual partisan-Labour ire yesterday, contrasting with his every-day diplomatic demeanor abroad, and said that the Labour Party is proud of its successes both under the leadership of Prime Minister Robert Abela, and his predecessor Joseph Muscat. He also said that the Labour government works for everyone even for those who don’t agree with it. The Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister applauded the government’s increases to pensions.

The Prime Minister was also very predictable and true to form. He declared that his government seeks national unity, yet accused the Opposition of deliberately trying to sabotage the Maltese economy and wishing harm upon the Maltese people. He further accused the Opposition of wanting to destroy individuals by labeling them as “corrupt,” and extended similar accusations, implicitly, to the President of the European Parliament, referring to her as “the person who gives interviews in English in Brussels.” The Prime Minister also delineated several government measures helping workers including the increase in holidays, parental leave and also the introduction of IVF.
