Since the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) renewed their genocidal campaign in Sudan in late 2023, the city of Al-Fashir (El-Fashir or Al-Fasher), in North Darfur has remained one of the last bastions resisting RSF control in an otherwise overwhelmingly RSF-dominated region. In retaliation against the city’s resistance, the RSF are shelling Al-Fashir daily and are now even using drones to target civilian facilities.
We interviewed a resistance fighter from Al-Fashir who is currently fighting in the front lines of the city to save it from the RSF who have just committed a massacre in Zamzam following their loss of the capital city, Khartoum. His identity is not being publicised.
The resistance fighter said that the RSF are too incompetent to acquire and operate drones on their own, and that it is the UAE that is behind the drone attacks in Sudan. He also protested the fact that the international community is not speaking out against the war crimes being perpetrated by the UAE in Sudan.
Question: How is moral in Al-Fashir recently? (The RSF have just taken control of Zamzam which is located 15KM outside of Al-Fashir).
Answer: The moral is super high and Al-Fashir will not fall. Al-Fashir withstood more than 210 battles and is still holding strong. Everyone is determined to defend Al-Fashir.
Q: Do you have the weapons you need for the battle and is the Army supporting you ?
A: Yes to both questions. The leadership of the SAF is listening to the people of Sudan. The country is changing for the better.
Q: Lately there have been reports that the RSF are using drones. Have they used drones against El-Fashir?
A: It’s the Mafia state (UAE) that has been using them since the backward Janjaweed/RSF militia doesn’t know how to operate them or how to purchase them. Drones are being used against Al-Fashir and the IDP camps around Al-Fashir on a daily basis. (internally displaced people). The Mafia state (UAE) is committing war crimes but no one is saying shit in the international community.
Q: What would you like to do after the war is over?
A: Go back to practicing medicine and start a huge farm or a mango jam factory and give back to the community.
