Police Update Statement:
This morning, at around 10 am, the Police were informed that their assistance was required in Triq il-Frejgatina, St Paul’s Bay.
Officers immediately responded to the scene, where preliminary investigations revealed that a man was seriously injured while attempting to separate his two dogs during a fight.
One of the dogs attacked its owner and then escaped from the scene. Due to the immediate risk posed by the dog, which was deemed extremely dangerous to others, the Police were forced to discharge their weapon and neutralize the animal.
A medical team was called to the location, and the injured man was taken to Mater Dei Hospital for treatment.
The Animal Welfare Directorate was also requested to assist.
Police investigations into the incident are still ongoing.

A man is receiving medical treatment after reportedly being attacked by his own dog this morning in Triq il-Frejgatina, Qawra.
Police and Civil Protection Department officials were called to the scene. Following a search, the bulldog was found a few streets away on St Anthony Street. According to information received by local news sources, the dog was uncontrollable and had to be shot and killed on site.
