IDF pauses operations in Gaza as Trump unilaterally reaches agreement with Hamas over US-Israeli hostage

The IDF has currently stopped its operations in Gaza to ensure the release of US-Israeli hostage, Edan Alexander from captivity by Hamas. Conflicting press reports are stating that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is fuming over this abrupt halt to his operations in Gaza which was secured unilaterally by President Donald Trump in negotiations with Hamas through Qatar.

There are no official confirmations of these reports. Hostile military activity, including shelling and airstrikes by the IDF in Gaza, appears to have ceased today, with no reports of attacks so far.

Press reports are also stating that Qatar is to gift President Trump a commercial jet for his personal use, but even these reports have not been confirmed yet.

Other press reports are stating that President Trump disagrees with the Israeli government’s stance to continue their genocidal war rather than seeking negotiations for the full release of the hostages. These press reports have not been confirmed, but a recent ceasefire deal between the US and the Houthis clearly indicates that President Trump is seeking a less aggressive approach in the Near East than Israel expects.
