According to a Eurostat study in 2023, 8.3% of the Maltese still feel left out of society despite Malta having one of the best unemployment rates in Europe. Malta has the lowest unemployment rate in Europe with only Iceland and Norway beating it in Europe.
Long-term unemployment in Europe is highest in Greece at 5.4%, followed by Spain with 3.8% and Slovakia with 3.5%.
People may feel left out of society due to various reasons that may include discrimination, financial challenges, old age and also health challenges and disability.
