Texas Floods leaves up to 51 people dead: 27 girls still missing from Christian camp in Hunt

Flash flooding in Texas has left up to 51 people dead with dozens still missing including 27 girls who were staying at a Christian camp in Hunt, missing. The flooding started on July 4th early morning when torrential rain caused the Guadalupe river to rise, but the flooding intensified as heavy rain continued. Kerr County has been the hardest hit.

A Christian Summer camp called Camp Mystic that was hosting up to 750 girls was particularly hit and up 27 girls from the camp are still reported missing.

The National Weather Service, which was severely affected by layoffs and budget cuts under the Trump Administration and Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency, is being accused by Texas state officials of failing to issue adequate warnings about the severity of the flooding.

Rescue missions are ongoing to look for those still missing.
