During a dinner with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, President Donald Trump said that weapons shipments to Ukraine will be resumed. CNN reported that President Trump said: “We’re going to send some more weapons. We have to – they have to be able to defend themselves. They’re getting hit very hard. We’re going to have to send more weapons. Defensive weapons, primarily, but they’re getting hit very, very hard.”
President Trump made his remarks during a dinner at the White House with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who presented the US President with a letter to the Nobel Committee nominating him for a Nobel Peace Prize. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is wanted by the International Criminal Court for crimes against humanity in Gaza.
President Trump withheld weapons shipments to Ukraine as part of a series of actions he undertook to put pressure on Ukraine to capitulate to Russia. Pressure on President Trump including from his own party, may eventually compel him to approve to renew weapons shipments to Ukraine.
Senator Lindsey Graham is also putting pressure to go ahead and present a new sanctions bill against buyers of Russian oil.
