According to the latest NSO statistics, Malta’s industrial production in May increased by 3.7% compared to the same month of last year, reversing a decline in April. The increase was mainly derived from the production of food products and beverages.
The April dip in industrial production may have been temporary as the trend for industrial production in 2025 is on the incline. Most of this year’s increase in industrial production is coming from capital goods (machinery for industry and services). Production of wood, paper products, and printing have decreased this year along with the production of rubber. Production in electronic and computer components have increased.
Industrial production in Europe is also ticking upward.
