Alex Borg is turning out to be a copy of Labour, not only in his aversion to NGOs and journalists and his support for generous public land deals for property speculators, but also in his reliance on gimmicks and nonsensical policies driven by PR rather than real, material goals
Now, according to him, he wants to turn most of Malta’s energy-generating capacity on wind and solar energy. He also wants to introduce Hydrogen energy. The economic problem with this not so innovative vision is that renewable-energy sources didn’t make Europe’s electricity cheaper. The other problem is that Malta doesn’t have the space and the locations to build so many wind turbines and solar turbines.
In addition, Malta’s vehicles and cars generate as much carbon emissions as the electricity-generating sector. A very economic and efficient way to address Malta’s carbon emissions would be to reduce cars on the street but no one yet is bold enough to actually disrupt daily life and build a metro. So, instead we are getting Miriam Dalli as leader of the PN.
