Yesterday, Israel struck the fourth floor of the Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Younis, which specifically houses the emergency department, inpatient ward and surgical unit at around 10.00AM. Around fifteen minutes later, Israel struck the hospital once again killing up to four journalists, and at least three aid workers among others. The Israeli government has apologised for the harm caused to uninvolved individuals and launched an inquiry, implying that the strike was a mistake. You can watch footage of the strike here.
Double-tap strikes are rarely if ever a mistake. A double-tap strike is fundamentally intended to kill the aid workers who rush to the scene of a targeted site to discourage medical and aid workers to specifically rush to sites that have been struck by airstrikes. In other words, double-tap strikes are fundamentally planned to cause maximum casualties unto your target and health and aid workers that aid your target, apart from causing maximum terror unto your targets, civilians and health and rescue staff. This is why double-tap strikes are rarely if ever a mistake.
Ultimately, double-tap strikes are specifically planned to strike civilians, kill first-responders and instill terror and fear.
The double-tap strike technique was perfected by Russia and the Assad Regime during the Syrian Civil War and was also used on hospitals and medical centres. Russia has also used the double-tap strike method in Ukraine.
