The Labour Party is out of control: but it’s the Prime Minister to blame

Prime Minister Robert Abela is not happy that the Labour Party is getting a lot of bad press because of Neville Gafa and Jason Micallef. The Prime Minister prefers instead for the public to pay attention to the Labour Party’s official message and the government’s actions.

Initially, Joseph Muscat’s propagandists were removed from ONE so that the Labour Party focuses on its core message as it dissociates itself from Joseph Muscat’s propaganda. This move was successful, albeit briefly, because the Labour Party never enforced its own official policies and party discipline onto Joseph Muscat’s faction: on the contrary. Robert Abela kept rewarding Joseph Muscat’s faction until now they have once again achieved a very central role in the Labour Party once again.

In some way, the Prime Minister and the Labour Party leader sought to preserve the Devil’s Pact while simultaneously trying to diminish Joseph Muscat’s faction and importance in the Labour Party: this supposed strategy has been a total failure.

The electorate cannot distinguish between Joseph Muscatโ€™s faction and Labourโ€™s core message. This benefits Labour by keeping Muscatโ€™s supporters firmly onside, but it also alienates voters who became disenchanted with Labour because of Muscat and corruption.

The Prime Minister is not going to tell how he really feels about all of this: in public he is saying that the Labour Party is open to everyone who is willing to contribute and that Neville Gafa has a right to a public job, somehow.ย  In reality, the Prime Minister is embarrassed by Jason Micallef and the likes of Daniel Attard who are rooting for Micallef. He isnโ€™t happy about appeasing Joseph Muscatโ€™s faction either: theyโ€™ve become a metaphorical pain in the arse, spouting the most vile and stupid rubbish they can churn out. Yet, this is all the Prime Minister’s fault and only he is to blame for this situation after having treated Joseph Muscat’s faction with kid gloves and kept empowering them over and over.

Joseph Muscat’s faction will keep tearing the Labour Party from inside and the longer they keep at it, the worse it will be for the Labour Party in the longer term.
