Maltese MEPs unanonmously agree on the suspension of the EU’s Association Agreement with Israel

Maltese MEPs are in unanimous agreement over the EU’s suspension of its Association Agreement with Israel. The EU Commissioner President Ursula von der Leyen, yesterday said in her Speech of the Union, that she will be proposing to the EU Council to effect a partial suspension of the agreement. The Commissioner President also wants to initiate new sanctions on extremist Israeli Cabinet Ministers.

The EU-Israel Association Agreement was first signed in 1995 and lays the basic foundations and rules for trading between the EU and Israel. Malta’s Labour Party MEPs are demanding a full suspension of the agreement.

None of the Maltese MEPs have made any comments about Russia’s deliberate attack against Poland.

Thomas Bajada made another dramatic video about the EU with rhetorical accusations, mainly keeping his argument that the EU is focusing too much on defence instead of social justice – ironically on the same day that Russia attacked an EU-member state. On the other hand, in the State of the Union Speech, the EU Commissioner President announced the wavering of EU fiscal and procurement regulations with regard to social housing so as to enable the construction of affordable housing by EU member states.

You can watch their statements below. Peter Agius’ statement was uploaded today.
