Malta votes for the Two-State Solution between Israel and Palestine at the United Nations General Assembly plenary

Today, Malta one of the many countries that voted in favour of a resolution adopting the New York Declaration on the Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution (can be found here). 142 countries voted in favour, 12 abstained and ten voted against including Israel, the US and Argentina.

The declaration was originally formulated by France and Saudi Arabia and the Palestinian Authority and it calls for Hamas to release all the Israeli hostages, give up power in Gaza and disarm. Saudi Arabia and France will c-chair the UN Conference on Palestine on the 22nd September were official recognition to the Palestinian State will be granted.

Officials from the Palestinian Authority have been barred from entering the US.
