A 43-year-old Englishman tragically lost his life following an incident at the Blue Lagoon in Comino.
The accident occurred at around 1:00 PM when police were alerted that assistance was urgently needed after a man encountered difficulties in the water. The man had reportedly slid from a catamaran’s slide into the sea but soon found himself struggling.
Members of the Emergency Response and Rescue Corps (ERRC) immediately provided first aid before transporting the victim to the Mġarr Harbour in Gozo. Upon arrival, a medical team from the Gozo General Hospital was waiting to offer further assistance. Sadly, the man was certified dead shortly after reaching the hospital.
An inquiry into the case has been launched under the direction of Magistrate Dr. Brigitte Sultana LL.D, who has appointed several experts to aid in the investigation.
The police are continuing their inquiries to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
