Yesterday, during a Senate Hearing of the Judicial Committee, the Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Kash Patel testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee in his first major oversight hearing since his confirmation in February 2025. In what was a very surprising moment during the hearing, Director Patel said that there was no evidence that Jeffrey Epstein trafficked women for other persons.
However, the Director explained that the information the FBI has on Jeffrey Epstein’s case is very limited and is restricted to very narrow arrest warrants issued in 2006 and 2007. He also said that multiple administrations failed to expand the prosecutions against Jeffrey Epstein’s potential clients.
Previously, Kash Patel was a strong advocate for the release of the Jeffrey Epstein’s clients list before the Department of Justice said that the clients list does not exist – cotnradicting earlier claism by Attorney General Pam Bondi. Patel’s comments contradict the statements made by Jeffrey Epstein’s victims who claim that they are compiling a list of their abusers.
One of the most popular clients of Jeffrey Epstein was Prince Andrew, the Duke of York, who settled accusations against him in out-of-court settlement of Virginia Giuffreโs civil lawsuit in February 2022, agreeing to make a substantial donation to her charity. The sum was undisclosed and the settlement involved no admission of liability: the case was formally dismissed the following month.
Director Patel also said that he had reviewed most of Jeffrey Epstein’s file at the FBI and said that the case file does not include suspects other than Jeffrey Epstein. He also pledged to keep releasing more of Jeffrey Epstein’s files according to what the law permits.
During the hearing, Director Patel was also accused of leading a retribution campaign against FBI officials who are not politically loyal to President Donald Trump. Director Patel denied these accusations and said that the FBI is restoring its integrity. Patel admitted however that he is firing FBI agents who “politicise their work”.
