Israel occupies Gaza City after EU Commission proposes sanctions: France demands end to war as quickly as possible

Tanks have rolled into Gaza City after the IDF evacuated up to 320,000 people from the city and the surrounding neighbourhoods. Israel’s occupation of Gaza City is indefinite with no plans for withdrawal. Internet services are reportedly now unavailable in the occupied areas. Many of those that have been displaced have nowhere to go or lack tents, with many residents ending up sleeping outside.

Dozens have been killed in the past few days in Gaza City and the surrounding areas as Israel shelled and bombed the city relentlessly. Strikes were also reported near the Al-Shifa Medical Complex while Mรฉdecins Sans Frontiรจres (MSF) said that Israel shelled their water truck in Gaza City which was servicing residents.

The occupation of Gaza City follows the EU Commission’s proposal to suspend free trade with Israel and initiate sanctions against extremist Israeli minister and violent settlers. The French government has condemned Israel’s extended occupation of Gaza and called on Israel to end its destructive campaign as quickly as possible.

Ceasefire negotiations between Hamas and Israel are also suspended with no sign that Israel will stop the forced displacement and ethnic cleansing of Palestinians in Gaza or that Hamas will release its remaining Israeli hostages.
