Retail Price Index keeps going up with food prices

The retail price index has kept moving upwards mainly thanks to food prices in August confirming this year’s trend with the HICP index, according to the latest NSO report. The retail price index increased by 2.7%, higher than its 2.4% rate in August. Food was the largest contributor with up 0.95% of the price change.

Inflation in Malta has trended up this year while inflation in the Euro area has stabilised at 2.1%. Malta’s inflation rate in 2025 is being bumped by food follow by beverages and alcohol.
