Earlier today, two people were killed and several others injured outside the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue in Crumpsall, north Manchester, as Jews celebrated their most important and holiest holiday called Yom Kippur. The attacker was shot and killed by the Police. His identity has not been revealed yet but photos of the attacker were published online.
The attacker rammed a car at a crowd outside the Synagogue then exited the vehicle, and proceeded to stab the Jewish people outside the Synagogue. A security guard was also stabbed. The response by the Greater Manchesr Police was less than ten minutes who arrived at the scene and shot and killed the attacker. The attacker was also suspected to be carrying a bomb and the area was cleared.
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer called on an emergency security meeting and ordered to increase security at Synagogues across the UK.
The British Muslim Council condemned the attack and stated that the fact that the attack took place on Yom Kippur day made it all the more distressing.
Meanwhile, Israel’s genocidal operations in Gaza have continued today despite the Jewish Holy Day with up to 11 Palestinians killed. Attacks were reported in Gaza City and in the Al-Mawasi tent area.
