During the night, Russia has targeted several Ukrainian cities including Kyiv, Kharkiv and Dnipro and killed at least one child in Zaporizhzhia apart from injuring dozens of others. Russia particularly targeted power stations causing power outages in some cities as a result. Several apartments blocks were also hit. Russian planes launched missiles and glide-bombs from several directions while ballistic missiles were also launched from occupied Crimea.
Yesterday, Russia also targeted an Orthodox Church in Kostyantynivka with a drone. This is the second time recently that Russia has targeted Churches in Ukraine.
In response to the attacks, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said that Russia was even worse than Hamas because Russia didn’t even agree to a ceasefire. Ukraine had previously proposed an immediate ceasefire as part of President Trump’s proposal to broker peace in Ukraine.
Russia regularly targets Ukrainian cities and civilian infrastructure in nightly drone and missile attacks. Ukraine retaliated for the first time to such attacks by cutting off electricity to the neighbouring city of Belgorod. Ukraine is currently stepping up its war effort against Russia’s oil industry in an attempt to cut off its main source of revenue.
