424 full-time jobs and 404 part-time jobs created in the month of May this year

According to the latest NSO statistics, up to 424 full-time jobs and 404 part-time jobs were created in the month of May this year with the total full-time workforce rising to 295,995 people: this figure is a 3.9% increase from the same month of last year.

Compared to the same month of last year, in May 2025 part-time employees increased by 5.4% at a total of 35,969 employees. Private sector full-time employment was at a total of 241,765 persons (3.9% higher than last year) and public sector full-time employment increase at a higher rate of 4.3% totaling up to 54,230 people.

Note, that the difference of the other figure of 297,045 persons cited by the NSO is because this figure includes the persons who are actively seeking full-time employment.

Malta has the lowest unemployment rate in the EU at 2.6%.
