Ricky Caruana’s pathetic excuse to interview Malta’s biggest political criminal in history along with Joseph Muscat, is that criticism of these criminals and their involvement in corruption on international scale and potentially also murder, hurts their family members.
That’s very ironic considering that Keith Schembri extensively involved his family members in his own corrupt dealings, including by potentially washing his illicit proceeds into his wife’s business, and also using his father to receive money from Destination Europe – the Chinese company that used Joseph Muscat’s services to sell residency schemes to the Chinese. Both his father, Alfio Schembri and Josette Vella Schembri are being charged in Court with money-laundering, although Alfio Schembri is being charged in the Progress Press case.

Basically, Keith Schembri’s sums up all of his misfortunes to his allegation that he is discriminated for being a Labourite. Hilarious abut also condescending. According to Keith Schembri, if you are a Labour Party businessman in Malta, they will freeze your assets and take you to Court for no reason at all.
Note, that I am not surprised that he is communicating with the Prime Minister although his declarations are definitely uninvited and not welcome by the Prime Minister. The Prime Minister’s narrative about the pre-2019 crisis is that Keith Schembri is mostly to blame for Labour’s (alleged) corruption and that Joseph Muscat was betrayed by him.
Keith Schembri is a convenient scapegoat for Joseph Muscat and his legacy. The Prime Minister thinks he can safely associate himself with Joseph Muscat while convincing himself that any grave crimes that place, were mostly Keith Schembri’s responsibility.
All these fake narratives have been enabled by a weak Justice system and a complicit Attorney-General who actively covered up for Labour politicians. Lacking justice and proper investigations into their past actions, these dangerous criminals can now spin a wide range of self-serving fantasies to rehabilitate themselves: unchecked by the authorities.
