President Trump cuts tariffs on China from 57% to 47% following meeting with Xi Jinping

President Donald Trump cut tariffs on China from 57% to 47% following his meeting with President Xi Jinping earlier today during Asian time at the Gimhae International Airport in Busan, South Korea. In exchange, China has agreed to re-start US soybeans imports immediately. There will also be no restrictions of Chinese mineral and rare-earth exports. The meeting lasted up to one hour and forty minutes and President Trump described it as very positive.

This was their first meeting since June 2019 at the G20 summit in Osaka, Japan.

Stock market futures went up early this week on anticipations of a positive between the pair. President Trump also agreed to visit China next April with a potential reciprocal trip also planned, however this may indicate that there will be no trade deal between US and China by the end of this year.
