Opposition Leader Alex Borg doesn’t seem to be making any effort at understating Malta’s energy issues, and hence why he has just said in Parliament that the Nationalist Party will keep energy subsidies and lower the cost of electricity with increased renewable energy sources.
We are at a very dangerous point in politics in which even the most fundamental and essential basics that are needed for the running of our society are being kicked around in parliament and politics like disposable PR texts with gimmicky ideas.
There is no evidence that Malta can address its energy and electricity issues with renewable energy because renewable energy is too inefficient when considering Malta’s lack of land space. Malta needs cheap power to grow and build new energy-intensive projects such as the metro.
Claiming that PN will retain energy subsidies means that PN has no solution for Malta’s fundamental energy problems and that means they are also not thinking about any of the consequences and details in relation to mega-projects such as the metro.
