The Sudanese Doctors Trade Union (Sudan Doctors Guild) have condemned the comments made by the TASIS spokesperson, Alaa Eldin Awad Nugud, who said that Muammar Ibrahim and other journalists were primary causes of the ongoing war in Sudan. The preliminary committee of the Doctors Union has accused Alaa Eldin Awa Nugud of being involved in direct or indirect acts of collusion to kill, contesting the credibility of sexual violence victims, abusing of his medical profession to promote war and military agendas.
Alaa Eldin Awa Nugud is a surgeon by profession. The Doctors Union have also condemned Alaa Eldin Awa Nugud for his comments about Muammar Ibrahim and said that with his comments, Nugud has abandoned his moral duties of a medical doctor to protect human rights and also threaten the life of Muammar Ibrahim himself.
Muammar Ibrahim is currently being held captive by the Rapid Support Forces after the UAE-backed, genocidal militia captured Al-Fashir around October 26th. The Maltese Herald is currently conducting a campaign to lobby for his release.

A statement on the unprofessional abuses of Dr. Aladdin criticized

Starting from our historical and ethical responsibility towards our people, and in compliance with the Department of Apocrates and the profession principles that made the doctor a guardian of life and human dignity, the preliminary committee of the Sudan Doctors Guild announces a clear and unambiguous position towards what was issued by Dr. Aladdin, criticism of statements and practices that are in line with the ethics of the profession and the values of the society. ุงูุทุจู

Firstly: Regarding practices violating profession values
What Dr. Alaa is attributed to:
โข Direct or indirect collusion to kill,
โข Claiming the credibility of survivors of rape and sexual violence,
โข Using his medical capacity and professional platforms to serve political or military agendas,
They are all practices that do not fall within freedom of speech, but within the dangerous deviation and complete detachment from the essence of the profession that is based on the victory, treatment and protection of victims regardless of their affiliation.
As Dr Alaa continues to criticize a misleading claim alleging that the militia’s support for the December Revolution, in an attempt to whitewash the record of a force involved in subjugation, coup on civil power and committing widespread violations, their crimes continue in Darfur.
This insistence on faking facts is touching the stance of the doctors struggling and betrayal of the December Revolution and their martyrdom.
A doctor who takes science as a wall to hide behind the injustice, or makes his profession an instrument of propaganda, betrays the covenant that unites us all: to protect life, to defend human dignity, and to stand by the victims, not by the side of those who dismantle them.

Secondly: Regarding the recent statements about the captive journalist Maamar Ibrahim
We have regretfully followed the statements that Dr. Alaa criticized on Al-Jazeera Live channel, which:
โข It justified the arrest of the media Maamar Ibrahim, based on his personal views, in a blatant violation of the principle of freedom of opinion and expression.
โข He went to an extent that he was one of the reasons for the war in Sudan, and similar to Rwandan media who played a role in inciting the genocide, a serious charge and a neighbor that forms a pre-judice that may endanger his safety.
โข There is no “confessions” attributed to him, in an unacceptable promotion of any confession taken under oppression or imprisonment, and it is something that any doctor who knows the effect of torture on the body and soul is aware of its danger.
These statements do not only abandon the duty of the moral doctor to protect human rights and human rights, but they also threaten the life of a journalist who attests to his professional coverage of the suffering of civilians during the war.

Third: A union stance is clear
Based on what is provided, the preliminary committee for the upcoming Sudan Doctors Guild announces:
1. Dr. Aladdin Criticism does not represent Sudanese doctors, and does not have the moral evidence to speak on their behalf.

We will not accept to hold the title of a doctor while we are silent about injustice, or allow anyone to trade people’s suffering under any name.
We will preserve in our history the names of those who chose the light of the profession over the shadow of corrupt power, and we will always refuse to be false witnesses in a time of ruin.
