Ukraine has, as expected, refused to the latest offer by the US to capitulate to Russia. In a plan drawn by President Trump’s Special Envoy, Steve Witkoff, the US proposed to Ukraine to give up territory to Russia, including territories that it has not yet lost, and reduce its military capabilities.
Press Reports are also reporting that US Special Envoy to Ukraine Keith Kellogg has quit his role after the proposed capitulation plan.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensly was in Ankara yesterday, meeting with Turkey’s President Tayyip Erdogan to discuss other details. At the end of the trip, President Zelensky announced that President Erdogan had proposed to facilitate talks with Russia and that Ukraine supports this approach. The wording of the Ukrainian President implies that Ukraine prefers Turkey over the United States to mediate with Russia in its war.
Russia has launched another 136 drones against Ukrainian cities and civilians earlier this night with most of them being intercepted. Yesterday, Russia used strategic bombers to fire cruise missiles at residential houses in Ternopil killing up to 25 people including 14 children.
Russia has exponentially increased its airstrikes against Ukrainian cities this year and is now escalating them again as it makes piecemeal gains in various parts of the war-front. Russia has regularly escalated its airstrikes against Ukrainian cities and civilians whenever it engages in “peace talks” about Ukraine with the US, with the aim to put maximum pressure on Ukraine.
