Food prices keep pushing inflation higher in Malta

The price increases rate for October kept going higher, increasing from 2.4% in September to 2.7% in October as measured by the retail price index, according to the latest NSO statistics. Food remains the main item causing inflationary pressure among products and services in Malta, pushing as a result inflation above the EU average. Inflation in October last year was recorded at 1.6%.

Deflationary pressures were reco4rded in clothing (-0.08). Food increased by 0.8% with its overall basket increased by 3.7% , followed by transport and communication at 0.37%.

Inflation is trending higher in Malta.
