The Minister for Social Housing, Roderick Galdes has flown to Singapore with his partner and another Ministry official in what seems to be official and government business. He is doing so while being entangled in yet another scandal.
One of the Minister’s flagship social housing projects, has stalled as the government company that is executing the project has run out of funds. The project involves up to 267 housing units in Luqa at a cost of €44 million with up to €22 million in credit secured from the European Investment Bank. Contractors have stopped doing works on the project after payments for the project have been halted. The Minister said that he is not worried about the situation after Malita admitted it has run out of cash. The stock price of the company dropped by 20% in the last three months.
Malita Investments was also involved in a scandal about ghost voters registered at a social housing project in Siġġiewi and Roderick Galdes’ own constituency. The Minister is now in Singapore supposedly for government work.
