Marsaskala residents protest the demolition of coastal arches

The Marsaskala Residents Network have protested against the demolition of the coastal arches right before where the new ferry-moor is being planned. The demolition is also part of an ongoing reconstruction of Marsaskala’s promenade.

The arches are indeed dangerous and in a state of collapse. The whole stretch of the Marsascala promenade is afflicted with sea erosion and most of the structures that are just decades old have serious structural risks because of this erosion. The main problem here is that the government is rushing with works without communication and engaging with the Marskala residents while ignoring their concerns about the new ferry project and its consequences to the town.

Marsascala is one of the last remaining villages which is surrounded by either sea and the countryside but has been riddled with overdevelopment and lack of planning in the recent years leaving residents suspicious of any project.

IF they are ”dangerous and in a state of collapse” these should be rebuilt in their original state. But who believes this corrupt bunch?
