With the women’s league taking a break this week, the spotlight shifted fully onto the men’s futsal championship — and it did not disappoint. The latest round of fixtures reshaped the standings once again, with high-scoring matches, standout performances, and shifting battles across the table.
University of Malta Futsal underlined their title credentials with a dominant 12-2 win over Żejtun Corinthians Futsal WA, a result that not only keeps them firmly in first place but also halts Żejtun’s push toward the top positions. The University side now enjoy a modest but meaningful advantage at the summit.
There was also a breakthrough moment for Futsal Selection U19, who celebrated their first points of the season thanks to a solid 4-0 victory over Futsal Selection U17. The U17 squad remains the only winless team in the competition.
The week’s most eye-catching individual display came from Karl Luke Schembri, who scored an extraordinary six goals in Marsaskala Futsal Legends’ 7-4 win over GZR Birżebbuġa St. Peter’s Futsal. The result pulls Marsaskala level with Birżebbuġa in second place, though the latter still hold a game in hand. Both teams sit just three points behind leaders University of Malta, setting up a thrilling chase at the top.
