The victim has been identified as Robert Debono – the 57-year-old man from Mosta who tragically lost his life after his motorcycle collided with a school van driven by a 65-year-old man from Dingli.

57-year-old motorcyclist killed in early morning crash in Mosta
A 57-year-old man from Mosta lost his life in a traffic accident that occurred early this morning in Mosta.
The collision happened at around 7am on Monday in Vjal il-Qalbiena Mostin. Initial police investigations revealed that the crash involved a Ford Transit van, driven by a 65-year-old man from Dingli, and a KTM motorcycle ridden by the victim.
The motorcyclist was immediately assisted by a medical team and was taken to Mater Dei Hospital by ambulance. Sadly, he was certified dead shortly afterwards.
Two young children who were passengers in the Ford van were not injured, while the van driver was taken to the nearest health centre after suffering from shock.
Magistrate Monica Borg Galea has been informed of the case and appointed a magisterial inquiry. Police investigations into the incident are ongoing.
