Pakistan is forming a new military alliance with Libya’s rump dictator Khalifa Haftar. In a visit to Benghazi last week on Wednesday, Pakistan’s Army ,Chief General Asim Munir, praised the Libyan general and pledged more cooperation with him. Unconfirmed reports state that Libya will be purchasing weapons from Pakistan but official statements only mention “cooperation”.
Khalifa Haftar is an ally of Russia and the United Arab Emirates and is also providing support and backing to the Rapid Support Forces. Pakistan is just the latest addition of a number of countries providing technical and military support to Khalifa Haftar aside from Russia and Belarus.
