In recent weeks, Nagaev obtained Maltese citizenship and will therefore represent Malta at the European Water Polo Championships, which are set to take place in Serbia next January. Neptunes president Matthew Bonello said that in the past few days the club had been in contact with Nagaev regarding a return to Maltese water polo.
Neptunes will be Nagaevโs third Maltese club, having previously played for Marsaxlokk and Valletta.
Meanwhile, Jake Muscat is set to be released by Neptunes in order to join San ฤ iljan. The latter had long shown interest in the player, but Neptunes had initially rejected San ฤ iljanโs offer.
The situation between Muscat and Neptunes even reached the tribunal of the Aquatic Sports Association of Malta. However, it now appears that San ฤ iljanโs offer will be accepted by Neptunes, with Muscat expected to finalise his move to his new club in the coming hours.
