Carr, Muscat and Tabone secure National Team Places at Blackball Qualifiers

Gary Carr, Steven Muscat and Chris Tabone have all secured their places with the Maltese Blackball national team after winning the finals in their respective categories during the third qualifying tournament organised by the Malta Blackball Federation. The event was held at the Juventus Club Vero Amore in Birkirkara and formed part of the selection process for the 2026 Nations Cup.

In the Menโ€™s final, Gary Carr emerged victorious after a closely contested encounter against Wayne Pace, winning 10โ€“8. The match was evenly balanced throughout, but Carr proved clinical in taking his chances at key moments to edge past his opponent and claim the title.

The Under-23 final also produced an exciting contest, with Steven Muscat defeating Matthias Debono 10โ€“8. Both players delivered a high-quality performance, but Muscat managed to hold his nerve in the decisive stages to book his place in the Maltese national squad.

In the Seniors category, Chris Tabone produced a dominant display in the final, overcoming Shawn Galea by a convincing 10โ€“4 margin to comfortably secure qualification.

The Blackball Nations Cup 2026 is scheduled to take place in Gibraltar between 9 and 19 April 2026, where Malta will compete against some of the strongest nations in the sport.
