Venezuela is currently releasing political prisoners under the directions of the US government including prominent Opposition figures Juan Pablo Guaniba and Perkins Rocha. Other political prisoners being released include human rights lawyer Rocio San Miguel, Presidential candidate Enrique Marquez, and Rafael Tudares, son-in-law of Venezuela’s President-elect Edmundo Gonzalez. The announcement was made by the President of the National Assembly Jorge Rodríguez.
Interviewed by the press earlier this week, US Secretary of State Marco said that the US government is definitely in control in Venezuela, citing the current oil arrangements, and also said that there will be a stable and peaceful transition. The socialist-regime is still in power, but its new President Delcy Rodríguez has pledged cooperation with the US.
