President of the European Parliament snaps back at Iranian diplomats and reminds them about repression and censorship in Iran

The Iranian diplomats at the their government’s European Union mission were treated with a very snappy rebuttal by the President of the  European Parliament after they accused her of “interventionism” and hypocrisy over her comments about Iran. She replied to them by saying that their freedom to tweet freely against European leaders while based in Europe, contrasts deeply with the lack of freedom of speech and the repression that the Islamic regime reserves for its own people at home.

In her own words, she said:

“Must be nice to be able to tweet from Europe and be able to use the Internet freely to publicly disagree with leaders, without being arrested, beaten or having the country’s telecommunications disabled. That’s the sort of thing people in Iran’s streets are asking for…”

The protests and riots in Iran have escalated to unprecedent levels with protestors burning government buildings in Tehran and cities falling to protestors. The regime’s security forces have lost control over the country and the situation is still very fluid and uncertain. The Islamic regime never looked weaker.
