Animal rights activist Romina Frendo has issued a statement describing the gruesome details of the Japanese cat-torturer in Malta, Okamura Satoshi. She gave the details in response to prison-rights activists who called for clemency for Satoshi. Satoshi has been found guilty of killing and torturing several cats and has been sentenced up to two-years in prison as a result. His sentence was abrogated due to a legal technicality, although his guilt has been acknowledged and he will be re-sentenced.
Romina Frendo said that up to 20 cats were missing from the areas where Satoshi killed and tortured cats with up to 12 cats missing in the Sliema area alone. She also said that other tortured cats with the same methods were found in other localities.
Frendo also gave details of Satoshi’s torturing methods. According to video-footage the she saw, Frendo said that Satoshi pursued cats to the very end of their life and tortured them to the last minute. He beat and kicked the cats incessantly even when the cats begged for mercy. When a cat tried to isolate itself to die in peace, Satoshi pursued the cat again and tortured it until the last minute of its life. She also said there is video footage of him torturing, strangling and beating a cat for an extensive period of time.
Okamura Satoshi admitted in Court that he tortured cats because they reminded him of women.
The case of Satoshi followed a new trend that was spurned in China by a Chinese cat-killer who publicised and disseminated videos of himself torturing and killing cats.
