Speaking to journalists in Port Sudan, General of the Sudanese Armed Forces Abdel Fattah al-Burhan told the press that there won’t be peace in Sudan before the Rapid Support Forces are defeated.
“Peace will not come before the end of the RSF, and any solution proposal that RSF is involved in is nothing but postponing the crisis. The permanent solution is to end the RSF: this does not mean that they all have to die, it could also be laying down arms and surrendering.”
General Burhan also reiterated that the United Arab Emirates, which backs and sponsors the genocidal RSF should not be part of any peace discussions. Last year, the Sudanese General accused the United States of America of taking the side of the UAE and the RSF and proposing solutions which were unacceptable.
The Sudanese General also highlighted that they have been demanding a ceasefire during the Siege of Al-Fashir, but any ceasefire proposals today would give an advantage to the RSF and enable them to take more territory. The RSF conducted widescale ethnic cleansing in the city of Al-Fashir killing tens of thousands of civilians in cold-blooded executions apart from causing the deaths of thousands of others who were forced to flee the city by foot.
General Burhan also thanked Turkey and President Tayyip Erdogan for supporting the SAF’s cause against the RSF. Both Turkey and Egypt are stepping up their support for Sudan this year as he embattled nation continues to fight for its survival against the RSF which depends on the support of the UAE.
Meanwhile, fierce fighting is ongoing in the Kordofan region of Sudan against the RSF. Sudan is being besieged from various sides with the RSF being supported from various sides and nations. In the Kufra region of Libya, there are still sightings of RSF military hardware being sent to Sudan while in the south, a new front has been opened in the Blue Nile region by the South Sudan backed Sudan People’s Liberation Movement–North (SPLM–N). General Johnson Olony Thabo has been filmed making genocidal calls against the Sudanese people.
