Prime Minister of Malta Robert Abela promotes Chinese EVs

Yesterday, Prime Minister Robert Abela attended the inauguration of a car showroom in Attard for the major Chinese vehicle manufacturer Changan. Changan is state-owned and it also produces weapons and parts for the Chinese government and its Ministry of Defence.

China is currently on a global offensive to promote and sell their own electronic-vehicles (EVs). The Prime Minister is goign against the European trend by promoting European products because this is supposedly “in favour of the national interest” and “Malta is neutral mentality”.

In addition to the fact that this an embarrassing moment of our national leader promoting foreign products, no government-leader promotes Chinese products unless they are usually from a war-torn country in Africa. This is very embarrassing and humiliating but it also aligns with the increasing coziness and friendship between the Labour Party and the Communist Party of China. The Labour Party, particularly Joseph Muscat’s faction is strengthening its ties with the Chinese, while the government is also establishing closer relations.

The Public Broadcaster (TVM) is reporting on the event without providing any background and is going along with the advertising of the Chinese product.

China has a hold on the Maltese government and the Labour Party is enamored by the idea of turning Malta into a Chinese colony. More in the next article.
