Prime Minister announces contract on Manoel Island with MIDI to be signed in the next weeks: no details announced

Earlier today, Prime Minister Robert Abela announced that the government will be signing the agreement with MIDI over Manoel Island in the next few weeks, however no details were announced.

Last year, following a wide-scale national campaign to turn Manoel Island into a public park, the Prime Minister decided to enforce the contractual clauses in the government’s contract with MIDI and make a move to repossess the island back in public hands.

Apart from being in default of contractual clauses, MIDI is also facing severe financial challenges and mounting debts with its project.

The Prime Minister also said that the government is going ahead with its racetrack project. The government is converting parcels of agricultural land and industrial land into a racetrack for car hobbyists.
