Prime Minister promises green and national park in Manoel Island

Yesterday, at the Labour Party’s weekly political rally, the Prime Minister promised promised that Manoel Island would be transformed into a national green park. He made the statement after the government submitted a judicial protest in Court addressed to MIDI announcing the government’s intent to cancel the concession in its entirety due to MIDI’s failure to uphold its concession agreement.

Previously, in a surprise announcement, MIDI also announced its intention to give up the concession. MIDI failed to fulfill its development obligations in Manoel Island and was also supposed to penalties due to these delays.

The Prime Minister changed his position on Manoel Island following a national campaign on the issue which gathered the support of up to 30,000 people. The campaign was supported by NGOs such as Moviment Graffitti and political parties Momentum and ADPD.

    Promises, promises, promises!

    Will the government recognize the State of Palestine this Friday? The conference that he referred to in NY has been postponed….and he’s now gone all silent about the matter.

    And what about the mother and surviving son he promised would come to Malta? Well, they were welcomed in Italy!

    Good to have some journalists asking questions.
