WATCH: Manoel Island “National Park” turns into commercial Padel court club

Prime Minister Robert Abela promised to turn Manoel Island into a national and public park. Instead, it has been turned into a private Padel court club. there’s always a hidden catch when the Labour government announces something progressive: either someone is going to get paid or the announcement is not really what it looks like.

The Padel Courts have been built by the President of Gลผira United FC, Sharlon Pace for the commercial use of the football club. The football club has built these Padel courts purely as a commercial operation. Originally the land was granted to the football club in the 1970s for the purpose to play football and not to commercialise the land.

The structures have also been installed before a full planning permit was awarded and in fact the planning application process is still ongoing.
