Police are searching for 49-year-old Italian national Salvatore Di Prima following an attempted murder in Baħar iċ‑Ċagħaq late on Saturday night.
The incident happened at around 10:00pm, when authorities were informed that a man had suffered serious injuries during an altercation. Emergency medical teams treated the victim at the scene before transporting him by ambulance to Mater Dei Hospital for further care.
According to police, the suspect fled shortly after the attack and remains at large. A search operation is currently underway to locate him.
A magisterial inquiry has been opened while police investigations continue.
