President Macron in Cyprus: European security is our common interest

French President Emmanuel Macron was in Cyprus today along with Greece’s Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis. Prime Minister of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulides. The leaders toured the Andreas Papandreou Air Base.

French President Emmanuel Macron said that anyone who attacks Cyprus is attacking Europe. Iran targeted the British base of Akrotiri in Cyprus. The French President also announced the deployment of the French Languedoc frigate and Mistral air-defence systems to Cyprus.

The French flagship naval vessel Charles De Gaulle has also been deployed to the Mediterranean and French and Spanish naval assets are also berthed at the Grand Harbour of Malta. Greece has deployed fighter jets to Cyprus while Spain has also deployed a naval frigate.
