Sources within the Nationalist Party have informed us earlier today that there is ongoing rift between Alexiei Dingli and the Nationalist Party. Different and multiple sources have confirmed with us that the Nationalist Party is reluctant to accept Alexiei Dingli’s nomination as a general election candidate with PN and a dispute is ongoing between Alexiei Dingli and the Nationalist Party’s Whip, Robert Cutajar.
Alexiei Dingli had a very unusual and irregular preference to a particular bidder for public cleaning contracts in Valletta and the rewards of these tenders were consistently flagged by public authorities as irregular. The recipient in question is Alan or Allan Muscat (Galletta), a notorious and dangerous criminal who was charged in Court multiple times over drug trafficking.
There is still no confirmation of the actual reasons why the Nationalist Party has issues with Alexiei Dingli being one of its election candidates. However, we can confirm that Alexiei Dingli has a reputation, both within the PN and outside it, for mismanaging the finances of Valletta’s Local Council when he was mayor.
