Yesterday at the political rally of the Nationalist Party, Opposition Leader Alex Borg pledged to publish the declaration of assets of his MPs and their partners if he is elected into office. His comments came as the government intends to codify into law its new practice of preventing the publication of these declarations.
He also mentioned the case of Roderick Galdes and said that concealing the declaration was meant to hide cases like those of Roderick Galdes, who resigned after accumulating a property portfolio while making property deals with the recipients of public contracts under the responsibility of his entities.
But why not now? There is nothing preventing the Opposition Leader from publishing the declarations of his MPs now and by doing so he would also be setting an example while putting more weight on his word.
