The US Attorney General Pam Bondi has been fired from her post by US President Donald Trump earlier today. She had been under heavy scrutiny over the release of the Jeffrey Epstein files, which contained redactions, with some documents still missing and yet to be released.
She also gave a highly controversial performance at her Congress hearing, during which she invoked stock market highs and refused to look at victims present in the room. She was a staunch defender of the Trump administration and often made political comments which didn’t fit her role, which is supposed to be impartial. She was also Florida Attorney-General between 2011 and 2019 and oversaw a plea deal with Jeffrey Epstein that was effected by her predecessor.
Pam Bondi has been replaced by Todd Blanche, a former federal prosecutor who moved to the private practice and also served as one of Donald Trump’s lawyers. He has been a strong support of his administration.
