Concrete plans and dates about the general election remain a closely guarded secret within the Labour Party, and reserved only to the small circle of the Prime Minister. However, government MPs and party officials have all been told that a general election is potentially imminent, prompting the party and its MPs to go on election campaign mode.
Government MPs are increasing their door-to-door visits and street campaigning, party delegates of local committees are coordinating their lists with the campaign team at the party HQ, and party officials in top government roles are referring to Castille on all decisions to align their work with current campaign interests.
Top parties sources have informed us that 1st of May can potentially be the date when Prime Minister Robert Abela announces the general election but this is only speculation based on the party’s history. In reality this was also an exception to the rule because Labour has always aimed to do all of its mandate to stay in power as longer as possible – this is also why it is unusual for Labour to call an early election.
