Spain’s Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez has made his fourth trip to China in as many years in what he sees as as a growing and friendly partnership with the totalitarian and imperialist state. Pedro Sanchez has been Europe’s most vocal leader on the genocide in Palestine, by Israel, saying that Europe should invoke international law without discrimination.
China conducts active ethnic cleansing processes in its regions, to replace indigenous populations with the Han Chinese, especially in Tibet and the Uyghur region of Xinjiang where, China runs concentration camps against the local population. According to local human rights groups, more than 97,000 people, who all have been identified and documented, remain missing in Xinjiang due to China’s persecution.
Meanwhile, Spain has more than doubled its gas imports from Russia in the month of March with the share of Russian gas imports soaring by up to 26% in March. The unusual uptick in gas purchases from Russia comes despite plenty of available supply from the US and the EU’s current process to reduce completely Russian energy imports.
Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez has been a vocal critic of Israelโs genocide in Palestine and has also criticised the United States over the war in Iran. However, the Spanish Premier does not necessarily apply the same measure and criticism to totalitarian regimes.
The Chinese government has praised its relationship with Spain and said that the current visit is aimed for “in-depth talks” to strengthen the relationship and collaborate on multilateral and international issues.
